This hands-on museum is packed with interactive exhibits designed to spark curiosity, encourage creativity, and make learning an adventure.
A Fun-Filled Visit for All Ages
We spent two hours exploring with our toddler and 8-year-old, and there was plenty to keep both of them engaged! Does your child love getting hands-on with experiments? Do they enjoy running around in imaginative play areas? There’s something for everyone at the Danville Science Center. Even if they simply enjoy watching the world in action, the Danville Science Center has it all.
First Stop: The Wonder of Water
One of the most exciting areas for little explorers is the Water Floor! This immersive exhibit allows kids to experience the science behind water in a hands-on way. They can experiment with currents, create waves, and even explore fog and the force of a hurricane! It’s a fantastic place for sensory play. There are plenty of opportunities for kids to splash. They can discover how water moves and reacts.
Exploring Science and Movement
Upstairs, the Science and Motion section offers interactive exhibits that show the physics behind different exercises. Kids can test their strength, balance, and speed while learning about how their bodies work. There’s also a creative space where children can build and experiment. This area is a hit for kids who love to tinker and invent. While this floor is geared toward older children, toddlers can still find plenty to explore and enjoy!
The Butterfly Garden
Spring visitors are in for a treat with the Butterfly Garden! This seasonal exhibit allows families to step into a beautiful, enclosed space filled with butterflies fluttering all around. It’s a wonderful way to observe these delicate creatures up close and learn about their life cycle.
All Aboard the Train Station Play Area
One of the highlights for younger children is the Train Station Play Area. This section is designed specifically for ages 0-5. It features soft play structures and toy trains. There is also plenty of space for little ones to run, climb, and explore. It’s a great spot to let toddlers burn off energy while engaging in imaginative play.
Interactive Learning for Older Kids
For kids who love hands-on learning, there’s an additional interactive learning area filled with rotating exhibits. These displays are designed to challenge young minds with thought-provoking questions and hands-on activities related to various scientific topics. Whether it’s technology, engineering, or biology, there’s always something new to explore!
